Video: Securing Digital Substations - Practical Ways to Minimize Cyber Threats

Digital substations are becoming more software-defined, connected and virtualized than ever before. While these advances unlock greater flexibility and operational efficiency, they also introduce new cybersecurity challenges that require new ways of thinking.

In this technical webinar, cybersecurity experts from Welotec and Westermo explain how utilities can strengthen the security of modern IEC 61850 substations using trusted computing platforms, distributed network visibility and virtualized cybersecurity applications.

Whether you're planning a new digital substation or modernizing an existing one, this session provides practical guidance for designing secure and resilient OT infrastructures.

What you'll learn

✔ How the cyber threat landscape for power utilities is evolving

✔ Why virtualization changes the cybersecurity model

✔ How rugged substation computers can host virtualized firewalls and intrusion detection systems

✔ Why traditional monitoring approaches create visibility gaps in IEC 61850 networks

✔ How distributed network telemetry using industrial Ethernet switches improves threat detection

✔ Practical reference architectures based on IEC 62443 principles

✔ A phased approach for improving the cybersecurity posture of existing substations
