The PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology offers several advantages. Data and power are delivered over a standard Ethernet cable which eliminates the need for AC/DC power supplies. In general the PoE technology guarantees a constant power delivery which is important for mission critical PoE edge devices. A PoE Switch provides the power, which can be used to run other devices via the Ethernet cable. A PoE injector connects a PoE-enabled network device to a non-PoE LAN switch port.
