Webinar: Securing Digital Substations - practical ways to minimize cyber threats (0800 PT)

Digital substations introduce new opportunities for virtualization, centralized management and operational efficiency - but also new cybersecurity challenges.

In this webinar, cybersecurity experts from Welotec and Westermo will demonstrate practical approaches for improving visibility and reducing cyber risk in IEC 61850 substation environments.

The session will cover how rugged substation computers can host virtualized cybersecurity workloads such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems, while industrial Ethernet switches can act as distributed data collection points across the network.

Special attention will be given to IEC 61850 communication patterns, where traffic such as GOOSE and Sampled Values often remains local to protection bays and may not be visible through centralized monitoring approaches alone.

Using a practical reference topology, the speakers will explain how utilities can incrementally strengthen cybersecurity without fundamentally redesigning existing substations.

Join Welotec’s Anton Krupskii and Westermo cybersecurity expert Maciej Goraj for a practical webinar on secure digital substations.
